Written by Precision Communications | Jul 11, 2025 12:00:00 PM

At Precision AQ, we know that navigating patient access challenges requires more than data—it takes real-world expertise. That’s why we’ve launched our Meet Our Access Experience Team series, introducing the industry insiders who help life science companies anticipate payer challenges, optimize access strategies, and accelerate time to therapy.

Meet Dominic Galante, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Access Experience Team, a seasoned physician executive with over three decades of experience across clinical, administrative, and payer roles. His unique perspective—shaped by time spent in operating rooms, boardrooms, and patient bedsides—brings a powerful lens to the Access Experience Team.

Q&A with Dominic Galante

Q: Can you share a bit about your background and areas of specialty?
I’m a physician trained as a General Surgeon, and I’ve spent more than 35 years in healthcare. My career has spanned clinical and executive roles across community hospitals, academic medical centers, comprehensive cancer centers, and even research institutions like the NIH.

Q: Where did you work prior to Precision AQ?
Before joining Precision AQ, I served as Senior Medical Director and Corporate VP of Medical Quality Management at MVP Health Care, a regional health plan in upstate New York. Over 16 years, I worked across three states, helping the plan earn national recognition—including top rankings from NCQA, Consumer Reports, and U.S. News & World Report.

Q: What unique perspectives do you bring to ensuring patient access?
My approach is shaped by three lenses:

  • Payer: I understand how regional payers evaluate therapies and apply management strategies.
  • Provider: I’ve been in the trenches and know the pain points clinicians face.
  • Patient: I’ve treated patients and supported caregivers, which has shown me how critical it is to simplify access to care.

These perspectives help me build strategic, actionable access solutions for life science companies.

Q: What healthcare trends aren’t getting enough attention?
Two areas stand out:

  • Healthcare Workforce Shortages: We’re facing a growing gap in essential staff, worsened by an aging population and rising demand.
  • Mental Health Integration: While awareness is growing, we still lag in embedding mental health services into primary care—something that could transform early detection and treatment.

Q: What trends will reshape healthcare in the next 1–3 years?
Several key trends are poised to drive change:

  • Precision Medicine: Tailoring treatments to genetic profiles will improve outcomes.
  • AI and Machine Learning: These tools will enhance diagnostics, personalize care, and boost efficiency.
  • Value-Based Care: The shift from volume to value will continue, rewarding outcomes over procedures.
  • Workforce Solutions: Innovations in automation, training, and workforce management will be essential to address staffing shortages.

Q: What are you most passionate about in healthcare?
I’m deeply inspired by the potential of healthcare technology—especially AI, precision medicine, and telehealth—to transform how we diagnose, treat, and reach patients.

Q: What do you like most about working at Precision AQ?
The people, the culture, and the mission. Precision AQ stands out for its commitment to innovation and improving patient outcomes. Our focus on personalized care, AI-driven insights, and sustainable practices makes this a truly forward-thinking organization.

Q: What should life science organizations prioritize in innovation?
Three areas come to mind:

  • AI and Machine Learning: These can accelerate drug discovery, optimize trials, and personalize care.
  • Value-Based Care: Embracing outcome-based models will ensure treatments are both effective and cost-efficient.
  • Digital Transformation: Cloud platforms and digital tools are essential for collaboration, compliance, and scalability.

About Precision AQ’s Access Experience Team
Precision AQ’s Access Experience Team (AET), originally launched in 2009, was created to bridge the gap between payers and life sciences companies, offering deep insight into access decision-making. Comprising more than 25 former access decision-makers from prominent managed care organizations, specialty pharmacies, and health plans, the AET brings firsthand experience to payer strategies, reimbursement barriers, and evolving policies. As an integrated part of Precision AQ, the AET helps clients translate payer practices and market access insights into actionable strategies to improve patient access.
